Meditations On North and South (2008)

Installation/Performance: Marianne M. Kim

Marianne M. Kim with international media artist Byeong Sam Jeon, video artist Clinton G. Potter, and sound artist Mark Leach join forces to create Meditations on North and South supported by the Arizona Commission on the Arts and Arizona State University's Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance Program. The project began with the question “what separates me from you?” which led to many phases of research including micro and macro events relating to history and memory. The project is concerned with the embodiment of the ephemeral. How can the process of fading be felt, hear, and seen? It is a welcomed failure in the attempt to encapsulate a journey and a life that is not static. It continues to shift with distance and imagination: the continual fade-out.
